Some bodies need more than a group class can give. Maybe you’re dealing with a stubborn back issue. Maybe you’ve had a surgery and you’re not sure what’s safe yet. Maybe you just learn better when someone is hands-on with your form. Private Pilates Training puts you in front of one instructor who designs every minute around what you’re working with. You can be on the schedule this week.

Signs You Need Private Pilates Training

Private sessions make sense when group classes don’t fit your situation. If you’ve got a current injury, a recent surgery, or a chronic condition like scoliosis or chronic back pain, you need an instructor watching your every movement, not splitting attention across a class. If you’ve tried Pilates before and felt lost, or you’ve been told by a doctor or physical therapist to start strengthening but don’t know where to begin, a private class is the right entry point.

Age is another factor. Seniors who want to keep moving well into their 70s and 80s benefit hugely from one on one work that respects their pace and protects their joints. Posture problems that have built up over decades don’t unwind in a 45 minute group class either.

Waiting on this stuff can cost you: pain patterns can get more ingrained, compensations can turn into new injuries, and your mobility may slip away quietly. Starting with a few private sessions can give you a foundation that makes future workouts safer and more effective from here on out, whether you stay private or move into group classes later.

Our Private Pilates Training Options

Private Pilates Training at Foundations Studio means you get the full studio to work with, including the Reformer, Tower, Chair, and Cadillac. Your instructor picks the right equipment for your body and goals that day. If you want a friend or partner to train with you, Semi-Private Pilates sessions let two people share an instructor at a lower rate while still getting plenty of personal attention.

For clients with specific concerns, we build sessions around what you need. Cadillac Pilates uses our trapeze table for guided stretching, traction, and strength work that’s especially helpful for tight backs and limited mobility. Pilates for Back Pain focuses on the deep core and spinal stabilizers that take pressure off your low back and let you sit, stand, and lift without flaring up. Pilates for Scoliosis uses asymmetrical work to address each side of your spine differently, which a group class can’t really do.

If you’re coming back from an injury, Pilates for Injury Recovery bridges the gap between physical therapy and regular fitness, with our owner’s Board Certified Physical Therapy Assistant background guiding the work. Pilates for Seniors keeps it gentle but effective, with a focus on balance, staying mobile, and building the kind of strength that can support bone health. Pilates for Posture targets the specific muscles that tend to pull you out of alignment from desk work and phone use.

You can book privates through your Mindbody account or our website. The 24 hour cancellation policy applies to privates too, so please give us notice if you need to reschedule.

Private Pilates Training for Indianapolis Clients

Indianapolis is home to plenty of desk workers, and desk work creates very specific problems. The forward head posture, the tight pec muscles, the weak glutes from sitting eight hours a day. These patterns often respond well to private attention because every body holds the tension a little differently. A class can’t customize the way a private can.

We also see a lot of clients dealing with the realities of long Indiana winters. Less outdoor walking and yard work can mean less natural movement, which can show up as stiffness and weakness by late winter. Private sessions can help bridge that seasonal gap, especially for older clients on the north side who don’t want to drive downtown for boutique fitness. Young Indianapolis families come to us too, often for prenatal and postpartum private work that group classes aren’t built for. Our location keeps that drive short for Carmel, Nora, Meridian Hills, and Broad Ripple residents.

What to Expect

Whether you call us at 317-475-0993 or book online, we’ll ask about any injuries or conditions that you may have and what your goals are with the training. If you are a new clients try to arrive 10 minutes early to fill out a waiver and inform us of your health history so our instructors have the full picture before you start. Your first session usually includes some assessment of your posture, movement, and breathing so we know where to begin.

From there, your instructor builds each session around your body that day. Mats, towels, and water are provided, and grip socks are available if you want them. Pricing is upfront, and the intro 3-pack works for private sessions too if you want to try it at a discounted rate.

Why Choose Us for Private Pilates Training

We at Foundations Studio has been serving Indianapolis since October 2020, and private training is where our background really shows up. Our owner holds Balanced Body and Peak Pilates certifications, plus Fascial Stretch Therapy, IASTM, Cupping, and Titleist Performance Institute training, with a background as an Indiana Board Certified Physical Therapy Assistant. That depth matters when you’re working with injury, pain, or complex bodies.

We own the full classical Pilates equipment lineup, which most boutique studios skip. You get the right tool for your body, not just whatever’s available. Pricing is clear upfront, and our owner is in the studio teaching regularly so you’re not getting handed off to a rotating cast of instructors.
