Frequently Asked Questions

Pilates is a full body workout aimed to improve muscle tone and endurance, strength, flexibility, balance, posture and mobility. It is a low-impact, controlled method of strength and resistance training focused on smaller, deeper muscle groups that support the body’s structure and improve overall health. Pilates benefits students of all ages, genders, activity and ability levels, and can be practiced in two forms: mat Pilates or on a Pilates reformer.

Pilates is a wonderful form of exercise for people of all ages, genders and ability levels.
Pilates is designed with modifications to challenge top athletes and provide recovery for the injured. It is even safe to practice Pilates pre/postnatal with consent from your doctor. Pilates is fantastic for pain and stress relief, and provides the satisfaction of a challenging, mindful, functional, and fun workout!

The Pilates reformer is a resistance machine that promotes length, strength, flexibility, balance and concentration. It is a bed-like frame with a flat platform on it, called the carriage, which rolls back and forth on wheels within the frame. The carriage is attached to one end of the reformer by a set of springs, which offer varying levels of resistance as the carriage is pushed or pulled along the frame.

We recommend comfortable, form-fitting clothing suitable for bending, stretching, sweating and exercising. Foundations’ workouts are typically barefooted, so you will not need shoes. Socks are optional, though we suggest socks with grip on the bottom.

Small groups consist of up to 4 participants for Pilates Reformer classes and up to 8 participants for Yoga classes and occur on a consistent schedule each week. Pre-registration is required for small group class participation through the MindBody app or booking via our website link. You will be put on a waitlist if a class is full, and will be notified should a spot become available.

Private appointments are scheduled for a day and time mutually agreed upon between the instructor and client(s). Your private appointment will be designed by the instructor based upon your goals, experience, and ability level.

Foundations offers Private (1 client), Duo (2 clients), Trio (3 clients) or Group (4 clients) private appointments.

If you are on the waitlist and a class spot opens up you will receive an email or text from Mindbody notifying you that a space opened up. If you want to take the spot you will be prompted to confirm the spot. We also monitor the waitlist closely and will do our best to reach to notify you as well of the opening. If you decide you do not want to use the spot the 24 hr cancellation policy does not apply to the waitlist and you will not be charged if you have not confirmed the spot.

Many Foundations workouts are offered in short and full length options, so be sure to read the class description carefully when booking your appointment.
